Bafang BBSxx Left Thumb Throttle

Current stock: 0
  • This is a Left Thumb Throttle only
  • Designed to be mounted on the left side of the handlebars
  • This throttle moves horizontally from right to left as opposed to the standard BBS02 right thumb throttle which gets activated by being pushed down towards the ground and moves vertically

Throttle selection choice is a very personal thing for any builder. This throttle ships directly from Bafang with a molded connector that can be used instead of the right thumb throttle that the BBS02 ships with by default.

A gradual/progressive response throttle

Bought this to replace the stock throttle. I didn't really like the build quality of the original, it felt cheap and fragile. I also wanted a throttle that pivots horizontally instead of vertically, as I found the stock version to not be very ergonomic.
This replacement is a quality upgrade, and I was very surprised that the controller actually responds proportionately to the amount of throttle travel. The stock seemed like it was basically an on/off switch, but this one is much smoother. It also hides nicely under the handle bar, and takes up less mounting space on the handlebars.
Very pleased.

Better than the stock version

My bike came with the standard thumb throttle (vertical direction of travel) and I didn't have any problems with it until about 500 miles in. The throttle started to crack inside the casing then eventually the thumb piece snapped clean off. This new has a much sturdier construction. If I'm being honest when I first got it I really did not like it because I was used to it traveling up and down as opposed to right to left. It took me awhile to get used to and now it doesn't bother me whatsoever. As far as which one is better than the other based upon how it moves, I wouldn't say one is better than the other, it's more of a personal preference. However I would say that this new one here that moves right to left seems to be constructed a lot better. It does add slightly more bulk to your handlebars where it connects, but on an electric bike with a display unit and perhaps amperage meter, what does it matter? If I break it again this is the one that I'll buy!
