Luna announcing its own wheel set which maximizes the largest possible wheels and tires that will fit on the Surron frame, and at a reasonable price. We offer the complete set ready to roll, saving you tons of bucks.
The 18 21 wheel size is a very popular upgrade because it increases riding height, better for clearing obstacles, vastly improved traction and less flat tires. (read this article on tire size and off road riding)
For people who upgrade their bike with 72 volts of power a kit like this is a must because it is much more rugged and stronger than the stock wheel set.
These bigger and wider MX tires and will give you much better control and grip over stock...especially when riding off road.
Rims include a rim lock so you can ride with all types of tire pressures without the worry of your tires becoming un-beaded.
The hubs are CNC machined from billet 6065 aluminum just for the Sur-Ron and offer strength and added reliability over the stock cast hubs... and they are anodized black, blue red or gold to give your bike that extra bling.
This set up will transform the look of your bike into something monstrous. These are definitely fat tires when compared to stock.
Compatibility
This will make your bike 1.5 inches taller transforming your ride, improving the ride especially for taller riders. Because of this heightening the stock kickstand will no longer work...so we suggest our upgraded adjustable kick stand with this product.
The stock front brake will not work with this kit so we have included in this package an upgraded 220mm brake rotor and adapter so with this package you will also get greatly improved braking over the stock brakes which are only a 203mm rotor.
For RST fork people you will need to change the front tire, since the tire in this kit is too wide for RST Fork.
Not compatible with Talaria MX4
Tires
These rims come with a no name quality knobby tire with soft compound perfect for off road riding and some on road riding. For a $100 install charge, we will replace these with installed Shinko 241 trials tires which is a great multi use tire popular in the Sur Ron scene. Both sets of tires are the widest we could fit on the stock frame and fork. Note that these tire sets are too wide for the RST fork but will fit with all other stock forks.
Initial Use
These deluxe wheels compared to stock are better in every way but like any good new motocross wheel set, the wheels will have to be broken in properly. You don't necessarily need to ease into the new wheels while riding, you can ride hard right away, you just need to make sure the spokes remain tight. After a few hours of riding some spoke can become looser than others and that is simply due to the spoke and nipple bed in with the rim and hub. So we do recommend to check spoke tension after a few rides or few hours of riding. If unsure how to properly tighten spokes, please visit your local trusted motorcycle shop or even a local bicycle shop. There are many Youtube videos on checking spoke tension on Sur-Rons or or on dirt bikes, and it's also much easier than truing a mountain bike wheel. It's also good practice to do a rapid spoke check up before each ride! With all the different forks out there and especially boost and non-boost you might buy a new wheelset and figure out it isn't centered inside your fork. Dishing / Centering your wheel is actually very easy, all it requires is a spoke wrench!
