The first released full color display for the Bafang BBSXX series and of course Luna Cycles is the first dealer in the world to carry it.
It gives a volt display that will gvie you an accurate display of your battery's "fuel tank" which solves the 52v fuel gauge accuracy issue with the Bafang drives.
52v battery note: Although the gauge is accurate as your battery loses charge...this meter displays a maximum voltage of 56.4...so when your battery is full charged it will not display the correct voltage.
After your battery falls below 56.4 this is an accurate voltage display however.
This display shows in mph or kph (your choice).
You can toggle by holding the Plus button between white back ground or black dark ground depending on your preference and available lighting.
It has a clock and it will also display total ride time.
It has the convenience of a usb cable plug that can charge your phone directly from your ebike battery. No other BBSxx display except the DPC-10 has this. Be aware that the USB port only produces about 0.5 amp which is enough to charge a phone or run a GPS but is not powerful enough to run a high power LED bike light.
Works with the BBS01, BBS02 & BBSHD drive units.

This is an excellent replacement (or new) screen for the BBSXX models of mid-drives. I love the color screen, and really like the battery meter as well as the power meter. It's a bit smaller of a display than the C961 is, and the mount makes it sit even lower than the model I replaced.
But, I do have to be honest. I would have rated this down a 1/2 star for one reason. I expected this to be a direct swap for the C961 I had originally (and a replacement I ordered from here about a year ago.) But it wasn't a direct replacement. The cable from the display to the main wiring harness is about 10"-12" shorter than the one from the C961.
I had to rerun all of my wiring bundles to make this work. This resulted in a lot of extra time rewiring, tidying everything up and wire tying it all in place. What could have been a simple 5 minute swap turned into almost 2 hours.
Outside of this extra work, I really do like this display!

What a HUGE difference from the stock display. In hindsight, I would have loved to have purchased by BBSHD kit from Luna and chosen this display...now I know who the best in the business really are. Thanks to the Luna team for their great products and educational material!!!
Not bad, look forward to future software upgrades.

Pros for me vs the C965 which I've had for 2 years.
- Clock (Yes!), battery voltage display (extremely accurate), momentary watt or amp display (I would really like total consumed obviously), odometer/speedometer are much more accurate, sensible navigation with future possibilities that could make this thing great, it looks better.
- Only one button with which to scroll through all the data instead of it being divided between two buttons. Bummer, maybe I'll get used to it. No temperature gauge anymore, but I'd rather have the clock if I had to choose.
The clock, accurate odometer/speedometer and battery voltage make this a definite must have for me, any future software upgrades will be icing on the cake.
nice display, needs some improvments

This is a quality display and the features offered are useful. That said, there is room for improvement, The power to the motor is available as soon as the pwr. button is pushed. effectively bi-passing the need to enter a code.
The display should have a quick release, so you can remove it and disable the motor. An easy locking feature.
Needs to be reprogrammed to work better with the 52v batteries.
I am in a Wheelchair, ride a trike and battery info is essetial.

I replaced my display C965 to a DPC14 for the battery info the DPC14 offers. So far it's option are so much more than the C965 with the graphic battery image and gauge. DCP14 offers several other battery info readouts. I have not put enough time on my trike to testify to the accuracy of the info but the functionality is exceptional. I will update my review after I have verified the it's accuracy. My expectations are high!
Quality Product/EZ to read

Purchased this with a BBSHD kit. I really like the color and the additional USB port is a nice feature. The display is sharp and the general navigation is pretty good. I'm using this with a 48v battery so I've not issues with level accuracy.
The one thing I'd like to have is to make this removable. It does look nice. In fact I imagine if locked up, someone could think the display is a garmin or something and attempt to take it. This isn't the products fault as it's not advertised as removable.
Much improved LCD Display for BBSxx drives
Posted by Unknown on Oct 14th 2016
I bought this to replace the C965 that was supplied with my BBS01.
The DPC-14 adds two must have features as far as I am concerned:
Battery voltage display.
Real time clock. (The clock continues to keep time even if you disconnect the bike's battery.)
Along the way you get a much more intuitive menu system, which you probably will only use a few times, a clear colour display with day and night modes, and a power readout to show how hard your battery is working. As usual, this power readout is not the power your motor is putting out, but an indication of the power being drawn from the battery. You can change this readout to show amps instead, or even an analog 'bar-graph' type display instead of actual numbers.
You 'short press' the power button to cycle through the main display options, from RT (real time) speed to average speed to max speed (displayed at the top), then it jumps to a line lower down showing trip distance, odometer and trip time. This is a bit confusing at first and I find myself going round the loop several times, but there are limits when you only have three keys to control it with.
The display of elapsed time actually shows 'powered on' time, not the time you were actually riding.
Like all these e-bike displays the wheel size setting does not take account of the tyre size, a 700/38 is a good bit different to a 700/23, but mine agrees fairly well with the gps readings from my phone after juggling the size to suit.
It would have been nice if the brightness had been auto-adjusting, when set for good visibility in strong daylight it is too bright for evening rides, and you have to manually engage 'night mode' when dusk falls. By default it is set to minimum brightness, which is very dim, but easily changed.
Overall this display satisfies the 'geek' in me who wants more information than I really need when riding my bike, and it looks much more tech when powered up than the monochrome LCD displays like the C965. Maybe soon we will have a touch screen option?
combination/password does not lock out electrics/motor
Posted by Boris Starosta on Oct 5th 2016
I bought this display/computer primarily because I had hoped (and indeed LunaCycle had said) that the password feature would lock out the electrics on the bike. I have discovered this is not the case. With the display set to "security pass setting: start - ON" it will ask for your password (four digit number) before you can use the display. The display gives you thirty seconds to enter your password. During those thirty seconds, everything will be powered up and ready to use: the motor, the thumb throttle, even the PAS, which will operate at the default PAS-1.
THis was very disappointing to me, because I had hoped the display/computer could be used to "lock" the motor out. Instead, I will have to use a "kludge" in the form of unplugging the motor (someplace not so obvious) everytime I park the bike somewhere. Otherwise, any passer-by or (more likely) my curious four year old can turn the battery and computer on (pushing just two buttons) and tap the throttle for "fun." THe result - depending on how I"ve locked my bike - could be a couple broken spokes, a destroyed rear wheel, or a bike that's been "crashed" next to a lamppost.
Luna Full Color Display BBSHD (DPC-14)

Can see this in both full light and full dark; easy the scroll through the options; very intuitive; I like the USB port for my LED headlight.

I have no display to compare this to, but I don't think there's really a comparison from what I've read. This is a great display with may features already described by other reviews. It is a very professional, capable display. I like the USB port to charge a light if necessary.
First one had a small flaw but love the display

This thing really is sweet. Seems to use the same mount as the c965 that came with my bike from BM Ebikes with a bbsO2 middrive. The display itself is very nice and bright. And color! The array of extra information it provides makes it indispensable to me. Much better battery meter, particularly with a 52v battery. It has a clock, displays current wattage, the trip odometer is easy to reset, and I appreciate the password option. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things. Unfortunately, mine had a small defect (blob) in the display near the center. Small but, do its location, distracting. Within 10 minutes of emailing Luna, on a holiday weekend, Louis emailed back and we sorted everything out. It was tough to go back in the original display while I wait for the new one. It is so much better than the original. Excellent purchase.
D C 14 color display,nice!

BEST DISPLAY IN THE WORLD

Yeah no exaggeration, Luna Cycle hit a home run with this display! Long press the + for night screen mode, long press - for walking mode (release - to stop).
Eric, Ashley and Josh are the current ebike winners with the Luna Cycle version of the Bafang BBS kits and their qualty battery packs. Look no further!
Nice Display with good feedback

I bought this to replace a C965 display. The readouts are easy to see in any lighting situation. The battery gauge is way better and being able to see amperage output from battery helps me adjust PAS settings for different situations.
Modulation with throttle or pedaling on high amp conditions is easier as I can see how much demand I'm putting on the system and instantly adjust if needed to save battery use and wear on components.
The separate selector required an extra plug which adds to the assortment of things to bundle out of the way. Seems it would have been cheaper to direct wire it to the panel and have one less cable plug to deal with.
Looking forward to updates on software when they become available.
This is the display the BBSHD should ship with

The DPC-14 instantly makes your bike feel classier and more expensive, the sharp coloured display is much more eye-catching compared to the bland LCD display. There is a much more information readily available such as a clock, and energy consumption making you much more informed about what's going on beneath you. This is the ultimate accessory.
Very versatile display, sexy as well

I love this display, and theres a little trick with the P mode. Holding the (-) button it will spin the motor very slowly (50 watts give or take). The purpose is to help moving you bike when you are walking along side with it. But it can also be used to shift gears without pedaling. Say you are feeling lazy and you want to shift down, just shift, hold the (-) button and hear the click. I use it when coming to a stop. That way I don't have to turn my PAS mode all the way down inorder to avoid the motor to kick in when you are trying to shift. I know you can slowly pedal avoiding PAS to kick in, but this way it is more handy in my opinion.
All in all, this display is perfect for the BBSHD. I hope the UBE define value becomes more prevalent and more light is shed upon this mode. Just a warning, this display does not work entirely as promised with the 52v battery, and it does not display the information as Bafang's manual shows (the range, mah, the good stuff that would be AMAZING to know). Thank you Luna for providing this into the BBSHD kit. You are just a blessing upon this earth.
Huge improvement over previous displays

Voltage monitor is essential, and ability to view power/current consumption is cute. Connector between display and control panel is a nice touch as well. Full color display is beautiful and highly visible. Clock and trip time are also nice features. Overall an excellent step up.
Only disappointments are the unfinished parts of the software. User defined setting are not actually configurable, analog speedometer is listed but not implemented. Voltage meter maxes out at 56V as well, so you can't get an accurate read on a fully charged 52V pack (since it will be around 58V). This is possibly due to hardware constraints.
Since this device supposedly supports software updates via USB, it would be nice to see some firmware patches soon. If the software running on this thing was available as an open source package, I would give this 6 stars. A screen like this offers a lot of possibilities and source code would certainly be fun to play with.
not exactly what I was looking for..
Posted by Joe Peltier on May 5th 2016
So I got this to replace the non color display I got with my BBSHD kit, the promise of "52V compatible" drew me in hoping that there would be an accurate battery percentage or a way to track current/watts used (which there very well might be, although the video and manual neglect to mention this). It does display voltage, however it shows a max of 56V regardless if the batteries are above that, which a full charge of 52V seems to be around 58V. I bought this expecting to have some of the functions (mentioned above) that I wanted from the battman, but maybe I was expecting too much.
Nice to have color, easy to see and use.

I am very happy with this Display. I have the 52V Dolphin battery pack and it has been reading the battery levels accuratly. The button controller it comes with is easy to mount and use. The screen is easy to look at which is nice because I do not have to take my eyes off the road for more than a moment to read it.
Display washes out in bright sunlight
Posted by JJP on May 1st 2016
The Speed and PAS settings are visible in bright sunlight but the smaller font items like Watts, Voltage, etc are difficult to see. Still this is the best available for the Bafang.
